HOROSCOPE – MAY 12, 2017

 

You generally enjoy your dreams, Taurus,

but not this last one in which your lover

invites her Iowan ex to your house

 

and they wear your jeans while

you yell at cabinets of lipstick. There

are layers of red on each wall’s face

 

and you run outside after her

Honda yelling at its exhaust

along cornfields of mid-America.

 

Meanwhile, in real life, you

two have yet to get in a fight.

 

Maybe you should do that soon.

Gillian Parrish: Just When We Thought We Could Turn

Gillian Parrish is a teaching-geek who currently divides her not-enough-time between stacks of papers on brain-gut neuroscience in the classroom, persona poetics, community policing, and a mermaid tale for her sweet little niece. Her poems have appeared in various journals such as Gulf Coast, Hayden's Ferry Review, The Literary Review, and forthcoming in Volt. She's the mothership behind spacecraftproject, an arts and poetry journal with an ethos best summed up in the words of said 4-year-old niece (hope for the planet), who, at Christmas dinner, solemnly remarked that "We are all connected. In a web. Like The Force."

Travis Sharp is a queer writer, artist, and teacher living in Buffalo. He's an editor and designer at Essay Press and at Small Po[r]tions, the author of the chapbook Sinister Queer Agenda (above/ground press, forthcoming), and a PhD student in the SUNY Buffalo Poetics Program. Leah Mueller: Don't Get Too Comfortable

Leah Mueller is an indie writer from Tacoma, Washington. She is the author of two chapbooks, “Queen of Dorksville” (Crisis Chronicles Press) and “Political Apnea” (Locofo Chaps) and three books, “Allergic to Everything”, (Writing Knights Press) “Beach Dweller Manifesto” (Writing Knights) and “The Underside of the Snake” (Red Ferret Press).
